Koalas are feeling the heat, and we need to make some tough choices to save our furry friends

The Australian government has listed the koala as a threatened species in parts of the country. This species faces a serious threat from factors such as urban expansion and climate change.According to a report from environment minister , Tony Burke, the koalas population is declining by 40% in Queensland and NSW over the past two decades.

The decision by Burke follows a Senate report released last year that made 19 recommendations, including listing the species as threatened in certain areas of the country and boosting the funding for koala monitoring. This report outlined numerous threats to the koala, including climate change , disease and habitat loss.
